Triple education success for B F Engineering Services
Havant based commercial engineering company, B F Engineering Services, is expanding its portfolio in the education sector by scooping contracts at three prestigious learning centres.
B F Engineering Services, specialists in catering design layout as well as the installation, renovation and repair of commercial catering equipment, have won contracts at South Downs College in Hampshire, University of Winchester and the National Film and TV School in Buckinghamshire.
The project at South Downs College is part of ongoing work to refurbish the College buildings and includes installing new refectory kitchens and extraction units following the renovation of the training kitchens last summer.
Work at University of Winchester is currently underway and is part of a scheme to demolish the old dining hall and rebuild a brand new state of the art university building. B F Engineering Services are part of a team which includes building contractors Geoffery Osbourne Ltd and Architects Design Engine.
“We are very pleased to be involved in this project at University of Winchester. It will bring new facilities, including first class catering, to the students at Winchester,” said Eddie Barlow, Managing Director at B F Engineering Services Ltd.
The new building will include a food hall with kitchens and serveries as well as a new student union with three bars, venue space and late night catering facilities. Upstairs, as well as a main reception, Boardroom and bookshop, there will be an internet café offering light snacks.
The project has been an interesting challenge for B F Engineering because the University rarely has any time when the catering facilities are not needed as even during the holiday times they are in use for conferences.
This means that when the dining hall was demolished, B F Engineering Services had to install a temporary catering outlet in an old exam hall, so the students could be catered for while the new kitchens were being built.
“The project has been very demanding because of the need to maintain services with a minimum of downtime, but so far we have been very impressed with the way B F Engineering Services have undertaken the work,” said Chris Higgins, Director of the Estates Department at the University of Winchester.
At the National Film and TV School B F Engineering Services are part of the team working on a new £7.5 million project which will include teaching spaces, library, preview theatre and dinning and kitchen facilities. The work to install the kitchens will begin in September.
